I bought LEGO Jurassic World Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex for my husband's 40th birthday because, obviously, he was officially old enough to become a fossil himself. It was meant to be a funny birthday gift. Instead, it accidentally unlocked something.
What started with one very cool T. rex skeleton has somehow turned into a full-blown LEGO dinosaur obsession in our house, and our dining table has basically been claimed by prehistoric plastic creatures ever since. And I genuinely love it.
The set itself is such a brilliant display piece, packed with all the little skeletal details that make it feel halfway between LEGO and something you’d find in a natural history museum. But for me, the best part is what came after.
It kicked off this ridiculous, wonderful shared hobby that has completely taken over part of our home in the best possible way. So yes, I bought Larry a fossil because he turned 40.
Turns out I may have created a monster. Several, actually.
