Welcome to Grown-Up Lego

Let me start by saying that once it's done, this beast is a BEAUTY! It is eye-catching and a master class in what can be done in Lego. The technical aspects of the build are fantastic and my hat is off to the designers of this kit. If the rating was based purely on the looks of the completed kit, I would give it a 5. But that's just the thing. I buy Lego more for the build experience than for the looks of the final product and, with this one, I found myself somewhat burned out heading into the last few bags. This set is certainly not for a beginner or novice. The plans can be somewhat unclear at points which requires a good deal of experience about how Lego tends to illustrate build steps. In addition, you REALLY need to concentrate on the steps. Make sure that you do EVERYTHING that they say and that everything lines up as illustrated. A small mistake made in the first few bas of the build could lead to much frustration (and possibly having to undo and redo days worth of work) later on. Ask me, I know :)

The big thing here is that was always going to be a display piece. It's not really 'playable' at this size and complexity, which means that all of the work you do on the 8 speed gearbox with flappy paddle selector and DNR leaver is going to be buried in a statue that's going to look beautiful on your shelf but will never actually be used. Yes, you'll know its there and you might even show it to a friend or 2 but I wonder whether it is really worth having in the set.

Would I build another of the large supercars? Yes, in a few years time. but for now, I'll stick to the smaller Technics and Icons sets that build up to a decent looking kit but still have the 'playability' to them. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm still a Lego kid (at 58) and I'll get back to these when I'm all grown up.

An awesome set and a really fun build. A must have if you already own the other 1:8 scale cars.

Epic build

Very satisfied with this product. Must say it was one of the most challenging builds ever, but very enjoyable. Have built the Porsche, Lamborghini, Chiron, but the Ferrari is even more advanced.
